How awesome am I? My second post in a day on books! My ultimate plan is to have a comprehensive list of Chinese books for homeschooler.
Anyways, this week, I’m approaching the end of teaching Michael Clay Thompson’s English Level 2 to the kids. Before I go on to teaching Level 3, which Thumper took last year, I thought I would have the kids learn how to read literature.
I had Thumper read this book 2 years ago when she first got into reading more literature and I think it’s helped immensely when she talks about literature to me.
But this isn’t a book review, because I haven’t read the whole book myself. I’ve only thumbed through the book. In general, I think the book reads better in English than in Chinese. Because all of his cited books are English titles. And it is hard to get some of the gist, for me, reading in Chinese, even though I did buy the Chinese version.
In the kid version, I think the author tends to illustrate his points with children’s books, that’s mainly the difference. Plus it’s a slightly more easier read.
Here are the 4 books, basically English and Chinese versions of the adult and kids version of the book.
